Philadelphia’s most adventurous guitar pop band, Another Michael, are gearing up for the release of their new album Pick Me Up, Turn Me Upside Down, and today they’ve shared a stirring new single “Mudslide.” Due out May 31st from Run For Cover Records, Pick Me Up, Turn Me Upside Down arrives hot on the heels of its sibling, 2023’s Wishes To Fulfill, providing a more experimental counterpart and highlighting Another Michael’s unending creativity. 

“Mudslide” follows “Is There A World?” and unfolds gently, juxtaposing subtle electronics with warm guitars and Michael Doherty’s singular voice. Doherty described the new song, saying “‘Mudslide’ is all about framing anxiety as something more communal that everyone goes through, as opposed to something you have to go through alone. The title and sonic structure came from collaboration with Alenni Davis and Tyler Bussey. The line about stroopwaffles is a nod to how finally getting what you want doesn’t cure you of your troubles.”

Like Wishes To Fulfill before it, Pick Me Up, Turn Me Upside Down finds Another Michael reveling in their love of song–creating and paying tribute to transcendent musical moments and celebrating the deeply personal relationship that can develop between a listener and music that they truly connect with. “Music is a medium of communication,” explains bassist Nick Sebastiano, “It’s not a purposeful decision to talk about music in our songs but it just inherently means so much to us. If something makes your heart sing, the audience is going to hear it.” Doherty adds, “I think good songs are just ones you can find yourself bringing with you all your life no matter whereit takes you.”

Another Michael also have a lengthy run of US tour dates coming up, with support from Tenci.
