Anna Calvi Shares ‘Song’ – Announces Dates
Anna Calvi’s ‘Suddenly’, the intense, dramatic opener from her second album, One Breath, will be released as a single on 23rd December 2013. The track will be available on 7” (RUG560) and as a digital bundle (RUG560D) b/w a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Fire’.
The accompanying video was directed by long-term creative collaborator, Emma Nathan, who said the following:
‘I’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate with Anna visually throughout both of her albums and through this a visual language has developed that accompanies her musical aesthetic. The song connected with me in a filmic way, it spoke of black and white, late 40’s, classic, emotional, Billy Wilder and Douglas Sirk. These were the images I got when listening to ‘Suddenly’, those of deeply withheld emotion and extreme release.’
A more personal record than One Breath retains the fiery elements of her debut but is more instinctive and urgent, revealing a wider spectrum of textures and emotion.
Anna Calvi will be touring the US and Europe until the end of the year, and will return to the UK and Ireland for a nine date tour in February 2014. Her next London show will be at The Troxy on February 8th 2014.
