Afropunk Festival Announces 10th Year

AFROPUNK FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 10th ANNUAL EVENT TAKING PLACE AUGUST 23rd & 24th AT Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, NY WITH MANY MANY ARTISTS

The fest commences at Commodore Barry Park on Saturday August 23rd and Sunday August 24th in Brooklyn, NY. On its 10th year anniversary, AFROPUNK FEST is in effect stronger and with more style than ever. AFROPUNK Fest features 4 stages of music including the more traditional heavy/punk Black Stage and Speaker’s corner where the politically minded can speak theirs, a slew of Food Trucks making a variety of cuisine, the Spin Thrift Market with it’s 100 vendors selling various goods and crafts, and the ever present Art Wall where selected visual artists produce original works of art within the park grounds.

2014 lineup includes D’Angelo, Lianne La Havas, Body Count, Trash Talk, Meshel Ndegeocello, Straight Line Stitch, Shabazz Palaces, SZA, The Internet, Fishbone, Valerie June, Alice Smith, Cold Specks, Unlocking The Truth, Cakes Da Killa, Denitia and Sene, Gordon Voidwell, The Tontons, Clipping, BLXPLTN, Cipher, HO9909 as well as DJ Sets by DJ Slink, MikeQ, Uniique, Jasmine Solano + Melo-X, Mista Selecta + Mane Squeeze A Tribe Called Red, Theesatisfaction, Oscan Nñand Adam R. This year’s festival will feature dance music from local scenes such as Jersey ClubBaltimore ClubNYC Ballroom, as well as underground DJ sounds from Washington D.C. and Seattle. More artists will be announced.
