Benny Sings’ latest single “22 Durnham Dew” offers a window into the world that inspires Benny’s new album. After leaving the fast pace of downtown Amsterdam for a quieter life in the Dutch countryside, he found himself writing from a place shaped by home, family, and everyday life. “We bought a house between the cows, and started a new life.” Benny says. “This song is about enjoying our new house, but also letting the not-so-great things exist. When someone cries, let that be, and go through it together.”

The song became even more personal through an unexpected collaboration with his daughter. Home sick from school one day, she wandered into the studio while Benny was working on a new idea. “She said, “This is nice. You should keep this” he recalls. “I asked if she wanted to sing it. One take later, the song suddenly changed meaning.”

“22 Durnham Dew”, is the follow up to previous single “Parachute,” which dropped last month. “Parachute” is a deeply personal track and marks a significant first in Benny’s career: it’s the first song he has written and performed in his native Dutch. Benny directed the video for “Parachute” himself, in an indoor skydiving facility in the Netherlands. The new LP drops on September 25 on Stones Throw Records (Koreatown Oddity, N8NOFACE).
