“Temporary Tragedy” by Rorey

“The song is about the cost of self abandonment when you grip intimacy and what it means to choose yourself. While the video is rooted in my first queer relationship, its message is universal: sometimes love isn’t enough to bridge the gap between hope and reality, when the other person can’t meet you there,” says Rorey about her new single “Temporary Tragedy”.

Rorey’s album Dysphoria, is a fearless plunge into the contradictions of mental illness, where haunting melodies and ethereal vocals merge with hypnotic, swirling instrumentals. The EP was Co-written and produced in 2021 with longtime collaborator Scott Effman, the project captures the chaos, beauty, and disorientation of a young artist clawing her way toward meaning in the midst of a manic episode.

The song is accompanied with a cinematic music video which chronicles the rumination and constant spiraling that can occur after a relationship falls apart. “The video is rooted in my first queer relationship, its message is universal: sometimes love isn’t enough to bridge the gap between hope and reality, when the other person can’t meet you there.”
