“MACHINE GHOST” by Erin LeCount

Erin LeCount releases new video for “MACHINE GHOST.” Along with the single, the singer-songwriter and producer has announced UK, Ireland, and North American tour for December 2025 and February 2026

The video, directed by Sam Taylor-Edwards, picks up exactly where Erin’s last visual for “808 HYMN” left off. Set in a decaying, dreamlike room, the video is a visual feast that mirrors the single’s themes of rebirth and reflection. Erin delivers a performance that’s both visually arresting and emotionally charged, underscoring her reputation as an artist with a truly singular vision.

“MACHINE GHOST is a song about dissociation, the feeling of separation from your body in everyday life, at parties and the most intimate moments. It’s about going to extreme lengths to try and evoke some feeling again, no matter what it takes and what risk it involves, seeking cheap thrills and painful pleasure. An observation of my own body, relationships and my take on what it means to be both the ghost, and the machine,” says LeCount.

lyrics:

i didnt want us to fuck
i wanted us to make love

i didnt want the cups on my bedside table
stacking up

cause i said i would get it together
but i don’t think i’ll be ready
to ever let it go

old habits die hard
and im tryna sleep the damage off

but it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand

it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand

lights come on
and theres nobody home
and oh my love
pushed my back against the wall

can someone tell god
i should be feeling this more?
i cant love you like im supposed to
you’re the machine i’m the ghost

i didnt want us to fuck
i wanted us to make love
you never learnt the difference
i want better for the both of us

all this guilt is getting harder
to deal with
when i sober up

ecstacy on led floors
trying to be someone
more than just a daughter
more than just a body you can watch
and then get bored of
more than just a room of people talking

cause everything
starts hurting
when i see the world in colour
and i wanna turn it off

but

lights come on
and theres nobody home
and oh my love
pushed my back against the wall

can someone tell god
i should be feeling this more?
oh i’m not at the party
im not in my body
you’ re a machine and im the ghost

you’re the machine
im the ghost
you’re the machine baby
im the ghost

it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand
it hurts to stand
