Japanese Breakfast has released “My Baby (Got Nothing At All)” comes from A24’s  modern romance film Materialists starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. It is written and directed by Celine Song in her follow up to her previous  film Past Lives.

On Friday, June 13, Materialists opens nationwide and A24 Music will release the film’s full soundtrack. In addition to Japanese Breakfast’s song, the album includes a 16-track score by Emmy and Ivor Novello-winning, multi–Golden Globe, OSCAR, and BAFTA Award -nominated composer Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Apple TV+’s Slow Horses), who is regularly cited as one of the most exciting and original voices working in modern film scoring today. The soundtrack also includes two covers by “arresting, haunted” (NY Times) singer Baby Rose of Nico and The Velvet Underground’s “I’ll Be Your Mirror” and Nat King Cole’s “That’s All,” which Baby Rose performs in a scene of the film.

After a decade making the most of improvised recording spaces set in warehouses, trailers and lofts, Japanese Breakfast’s latest album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), marks the band’s first proper studio release. Produced by  Blake Mills  (Bob Dylan, Fiona Apple, Perfume Genius) and tracked at the venerable Sound City in Los Angeles — birthplace of After The Gold Rush, Fleetwood Mac and Nirvana’s Nevermind, and many more. Japanese Breakfast is currently out on The Melancholy Tour taking the band across the world throughout the United States, Japan, Korea, Australia, Europe, UK and more with upcoming shows including LA’s Greek Theater, London’s 02 Brixton, and more.
