After the recent release of her LP Blood On the Silver Screen, SASAMI, has collaborated with Sounds of Saving and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for a new episode of their “Song That Found Me At The Right Time” series, which was created to promote honest, intimate conversations about mental health and inspire action for those in need of support. SoS sat down with SASAMI to record a of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ anthem “Maps,” which she identified as an essential song in her life, and to discuss her relationship between music and mental health. The videos were directed by Rita Baghdadi (Sirens). SASAMI is currently on tour in support of Blood On the Silver Screen, which travels across North America through the end of the month.

“I feel so lucky to have an art practice that allows me to go deep and process my emotional highs and lows,” SASAMI explains. “I’m honored that SoS and 988 asked me to be involved – their work is so important. If you are facing mental health challenges, in emotional distress, or just need someone to talk to, text, call, or chat 988 for judgment-free support. You are never alone.”
