Youth Lagoon aka: Trevor Powers, has released a new short film titled Changes. Directed by Nikodem Marek, the film captures Powers during a recent trip to the Czech Republic, offering an intimate glimpse into his voice and inner world. Marek’s film explores how adversity, home, and openness all guide Powers’ creative decisions and fuel his work. “I’m never trying to outdo myself,” Powers says. “I don’t even know what that means. What is ‘better’ in art? Something is either true or it’s not true.” The film is produced by STRIGL, with photography from Karol Gustaw Małecki and edited by Igor Kaczmarekm. Marek illustrated the drawings throughout. The soundtrack, composed by Trevor Powers, is the first new music since the 2025 release of Youth Lagoon’s fifth album, Rarely Do I Dream.

I got a message from Niko Marek a while back about meeting up in Prague with him and Karol Gustaw Malecki to film a little interview. They both had driven nearly 7 hours from Warsaw to meet me in the Czech Republic when I was on tour. We only had a few hours together and spent it walking around Vyšehrad Cemetery, smoking cigarettes and talking about art. We were not only fast friends, but something in our conversations and parallel thinking felt like our spirits were already entwined. Those are the minutes I live for. I’m seeing more and more that we’re not on this planet for anything colossal. I think it’s quite the opposite actually. We’re here to laugh, listen, and feel the wind on our skin. The success of a life isn’t in the grandeur, but in the overwhelming beauty of the ordinary. Don’t be fooled. You already hold the world in the palm of your hand.

Trevor Powers on Rarely Do I Dream:

“The more I rewind the tapes of my life, the more I can hear the voice of my soul,” Powers says. “This isn’t nostalgia. Life’s much more messy than that. It’s a dedication to all the parts of who I was, who I am, and who I’m going to be.”
