Young Magic Announce Tour with Bear In Heaven

Young Magic Announce Tour with Bear In Heaven, Release New Remix for "Sert One" and Video for “Holographic” European Tour Begins Next Week in Emmaboda, SE

Young Magic have announced a tour this summer with Bear In Heaven, a month-long string of dates taking them all over North America. In celebration of the tour, the duo has released a new remix for “Holographic” by Liverpool beatmaker SertOne, morphing the track into a world of sparkling textures and sub-shaking beats. The original track also recently got the video treatment by Johann Rashid and directors Young Magic themselves, who explore a crumbling resort in the Catskills and offer a stunning visual portrait of Manhattan.

Young Magic explain:

“We shot ‘Holographic’ with Johann Rashid at an abandoned castle and a crumbling resort where Sinatra had once spent his summer holidays – spaces of former glory now slowly decomposing. A cyclical pattern, like everything. The skeletal buildings had been stripped and tagged, leaving only the shape-shifting ghosts of stories these walls once housed. The past and present at once. We shot in Manhattan, a locale destined for the same fate – consistent only in it’s eccentric beauty and impermanence. The Portuguese have a word for this feeling that isn’t translatable in English: a mix of happy and sad, a type of longing toward something once loved. They call it saudade.”

Comprised of Melati Malay and Isaac Emmanuel, Young Magic released their sophomore record, Breathing Statues, this May via Carpark Records, and have been busy playing shows with Autre Ne Veut, Fuck Buttons and more, in addition to getting their tracks remixed by Teebs and Mark McGuire. Reigning in the melodic chaos of their previous works, the dystopian beats on Young Magic’s second release Breathing Statues were conceived in a new series of experiments. The two pieced together the album over the past year while on tour, recording in Morocco, France, Czech Republic, Australia, Iceland and their home studio in New York. As a result, Breathing Statues unfolds in labyrinthine fashion, its surreal lyrics and ghostly harmonies emphasizing the record’s otherworldly intimacy, growing darker as the album progresses from the agile “Fall In” to the lurching chants of “Mythnomer.” With Breathing Statues, Young Magic’s series of audio experimentations coalesce into a new holographic landscape.
