The Wrecking Ball ATL 2016 has announced the additions of two more bands to the festival’s lineup: Deerhunter and The Joy Formidable. Each act adds a slightly different dimension and punk aesthetic to an already diverse lineup.
Atlanta’s own Deerhunter serves to cap the festival’s celebration of Atlanta artists. Formed in 2001 by vocalist Bradford Cox and drummer/keyboardist Moses Archuletta, Deerhunter have toured the world extensively, including appearances at this year’s Coachella festival and Spain’s Primavera Sound, among others. The group’s seventh studio album, Fading Frontier, released in October 2015.
The Joy Formidable, the indie/alt-rock trio from northern Wales, will arrive in Atlanta for The Wrecking Ball 2016 supporting their latest release, Hitch. The band’s shoegazy dream-pop sound will offer a cool contrast to some of the festival’s heavier offerings. The band is a veteran Lollapalooza, Riot Fest, Music Midtown, Glastonbury, Leeds and numerous other festivals.
One more round of additions will follow this announcement in the coming weeks.
