Will Epstein has announced his new album Yeah, mostly will drop on January 9, 2026, via Fat Possum. lead single “Brideshead Revisited Revisited,” an off-kilter love song about the small and charming ways in which our relationships can transform us. The song follows his September single “That’ll Be Me,” which was his first new solo music since 2023’s Wendy.

“‘Truly odd to me/That I now love BBC/Costume dramas on TV’…It really is. I used to turn my nose up in protest but now find myself lying on the couch, prejudices long forgotten, engrossed and entranced,” Epstein explains of “Brideshead Revisited Revisited.” “The sense of surprise and wonder that accompanied the realization that I had let myself be influenced by the tastes of my costume drama-loving partner is not dissimilar to waking up in the morning, seeing this person lying next to you and even though you’ve been together for years, thinking, ‘Who are you and how’d you get into my bed?’ I love that feeling. It’s a pleasant disorientation that wakes you up into life, sort of like an unexpected sound that suddenly appears in a song and changes your perspective on what you’re hearing. It’s a kind of letting go—letting go of who you think you are and letting yourself change and be changed.”

Yeah, mostly includes collaborations with Darkside and was mostly recorded between July 2024 and January 2025 at Epstein’s home studio on an eight track tape machine, with vocals sung live and unedited, and minimal overdubs. Epstein wanted to pay special attention to developing his songwriting craft and finding a voice for his lyric writing that felt more naturally his own. In the months preceding this new material, he found himself listening repeatedly to Lou Reed’s The Blue Mask, drawn to the confidence with which Reed delivered and elevated even the most pedestrian phrase or idea with no signs of self-censorship. Applying a similar abandon to compact and concise songforms, the songs on Yeah, mostly rarely stretch beyond two or three minutes, and Epstein refers to them as “little things that you can put in your pocket.”

Co-produced by Michael Coleman (Cassandra Jenkins, Billie Marten)–who also provided additional guitar, synths, bass, and backing vocals–the album also features contributions from Austin Vaughn (Cass McCombs, Luke Temple, Sam Evian) and Kenny Wollesen (Linda Thompson, Laurie Anderson, Tomberlin) on drums/percussion; Kurt Kotheimer (Cassandra Jenkins) and Eli Crews (Tune-Yards) on bass; and Zosha Warpeha (L’Rain, Big Thief) on hardanger d’amore.
