“Watching You Go” by Let’s Eat Grandma

Let’s Eat Grandma, the duo composed of songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth, have today released a new single from their critically acclaimed album ‘Two Ribbons’. The powerful track ‘Watching You Go’; a song written about the grieving process experienced by Jenny at the loss of her late boyfriend, comes accompanied with a video, directed by Justin Chen. Co-produced by David Wrench and Let’s Eat Grandma, the band’s new album also features the expansive single ‘Levitation’, plus ‘Happy New Year’; a celebratory song about friendship, the stunning, melancholic title track ‘Two Ribbons’ and glistening pop song ‘Hall Of Mirrors’.

Jenny says, ‘I wrote this song about the anger and confusion I experienced while grieving the death of my late boyfriend. The lyrics talk about the liminal spaces between life and death, and the conflicting and difficult emotions of grief, existing in the in-between.’

On working with the band for the making of this video, Justin Chen explains, “Visually, I wanted the video to serve as a bridge between emotions while accurately portraying Jenny’s plight during her grief. We thought that having a simple set up that centres the performance would be the most effective. It’s a great honour to be able to work on such a personal piece”.

Let’s Eat Grandma have just been announced as special guests for a live performance at Leeds Festival this Sunday, as part of a huge Transgressive House Party line-up on the Alternative Stage, which also includes a special “Battle of the Bands legends of rock and indie” themed double DJ set-up, courtesy of Transgressive Soundsystem and BBC Introducing’s Emily Pilbeam. The band also recently announced a run of European tour dates for September/October 2022.
