Unknown Mortal Orchestra “Necessary Evil”

Unknown Mortal Orchestra release new video for "Necessary Evil",

Recently, you may have seen a curious animated short film set to Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s “Necessary Evil,” one of the stand-outs from this year’s record Multi-Love (Jagjaguwar). Illustrated and directed by Sean Solomon (Lucas Bros. Moving Co.), the video will also air nationally on Adult Swim during their “Toonami” block on Saturday, November 21st! Solomon said this about his video for “Necessary Evil”:

“The video is an abstract love story about two characters whose insecurities and paranoia eventually drive them apart. I tried to show both character’s perspectives using elements from the lyrics. I had a team of amazing animators and friends.”

The band is currently on tour in Europe, and will soon head to Australia and a homecoming of sorts in New Zealand, where Ruban Nielson and his brother Kody recently won the country’s most prestigious songwriting award, the APRA Silver Scroll, for co-writing the title track “Multi-Love.” They’re also nominated for four New Zealand Music Awards, including Album and Single of the Year (ceremony on Nov. 19th). They’ll then return to the states for a winter tour with Lower Dens.
