Twerps take you on a tour of Melbourne
Range Anxiety, the Merge full-length debut from Australian band Twerps, will be in stores on January 27 in the US and February 3 in Europe. Today, Twerps previewed the album trailerwhich takes the form of a charming video tour of the life of a working artist in Melbourne, starring Twerps guitarist-vocalist Marty Frawleyand wrote: The teaser is the perfect combination of earnest and witty, salty and sincere just like the bands music.
Recorded with Jack Farley, the albums title refers to a debilitating fear of running out of gasboth literally and metaphysically. As singer-guitarist Julia McFarlane explains, The title Range Anxiety is both descriptive and comic. The album at times feels like it was built on uncertainties; some purely practical and some emotional obstacles were present around the start of writing.
At first listen Range Anxiety, nods to The Go-Betweens and the bands beloved Flying Nun influences are clear, but upon closer examination, Twerps expand into a sound uniquely their own.
