Twen, led by Jane Fitzsimmons and guitarist Ian Jones came up in the Boston DIY punk scene, kicking off two straight years of touring in 2017 with nothing but a live EP from the band’s first-ever performance. Now based in Nashville, Twen recently announced their LP Awestruck. The full-length will be out on September 20th via Frenchkiss. Twen recently wrapped a U.S. run with White Reaper, and are touring the UK / Europe with Tacocat right now before returning stateside for more shows, including a hometown release show in Nashville on September 27th.

The duo’s current single of the album is “Make Hard.” Talking to DIY, the band explains: “This song was rewritten and arranged very late in the recording process. Another one of our earliest tunes, the second verse was a response to the growing pains we were going through at the time, transitioning from part time rockers to full time road warriors. The lyrics have come to symbolize the dynamics and relationships within a band as it grows, through the transformation of defined roles and how they change over time.”

Despite the band’s strange start, promise grows with each step Twen takes. The freedom and chaos brought on by their nomadic roots leaks into their live performance, only to saturate further with time. With touring now defining how a rock band can earn keep in 2019, Twen represents a refreshing antidote in an increasingly digital world. Awestruck serves as their digital flag, a compressed promise of the joyous energy that awaits in their tours and records to come.
