Toro y Moi, has announced Goes By So Fast, a short film starring Eric André and Chaz that brings the world of Toro y Moi’s seventh studio album MAHAL, due April 29th via Dead Oceans, to life. Directed by long-time Toro y Moi collaborator Harry Israelson (Live From Trona, “Freelance,” “You and I”) and produced by Ways & Means, GOES BY SO FAST weaves together a variety of formats including narrative, documentary, animation and a live performance to create a film that further realizes the world of MAHAL.

GOES BY SO FAST will premiere on Friday, April 22nd at Brain Dead Studios in Los Angeles. The event will also include a screening of behind the scenes footage from the filming of GOES BY SO FAST, and music videos from MAHAL plus DJ sets by Chaz Bear and friends, MAHAL Jeepney soundsystem pop-up, and a special menu by Lasita for Slammers Coffee & Concession stand in the backyard of Brain Dead. In celebration of the premiere, Brain Dead and Toro y Moi are launching an exclusive merch collaboration including two t-shirt designs that will be available on site at the event and on Brain Dead’s webstore. This event is made possible by Dropbox, Brain Dead and Dead Oceans.

The announcement of GOES BY SO FAST arrives ahead of the release of MAHAL on April 29th, which coincides with the launch of Toro y Moi’s spring tour with Khruangbin. This summer, Toro y Moi will perform at Electric Forest Festival, Pitchfork Music Festival, Capitol Hill Block Party and more, in addition to his own weekend of performances in Big Sur at Fernwood Resort on September 23rd and 24th. Those dates will feature support from Drugdealer, Salami Rose Joe Louis, Sound Bath with Secular Sabbath and DJs TBA. See full live dates below.
