This week marks the release of tofusmell’s Humor EP, available now on all DSPs from Hardly Art.

The digital EP, which includes “Younger,” along with the gentle and ruminative animated videos for “Basil Noodles,”and “Keith,” was produced and mixed by tofusmell at Rae’s Home in Winter Garden, Florida, and mastered by Sarah Register in New York. It follows the release of “Shower Song,” released last year as part of the label’s 15th Anniversary Singles Series.

Of the EP Rae says “Even if something is a serious subject, I tend to put a humorous spin on things,” the 23-year-old explains. Across six songs, Rae articulates wry yet earnest musings on relationships with himself and others through acoustic melodies that recall warm ’90s indie folk. Arriving after a prodigious run of self-released singles and EPs, including 2021’s Funnier in Theory, Humor marks a heartfelt and evocative breakthrough.

tofusmell’s Chen recently contributed backing vocals to singer/musician Leith Ross’s new single “Music Box” and was a touring member of their US and Europe live dates, also performing a song from Humor during the set to rapt crowds.
