Empty Nesters is the project of Matthew Liao, who handles guitar, bass, and vocals, and joined by drummer Matthew Galamaga. Today they have released new EP Deaf Monks, along with a new video for album track “Tilley” featuring Sasha Cay. The track Follows previous single “The Simphony” with PACKS frontwoman Madeline Link. Empty Nesters, Play their next show on July 12th in Montreal.

On the video, Liao shares, “The song title comes from my girlfriend’s friend’s dog, Tilley, who stars in the video. The song itself has nothing to do with the dog. It’s just a bunch of random clips they recorded together, and I thought it’d be funny to pair those with some pretty existential lyrics. The karaoke edit was inspired by my mom—she loves karaoke and it felt like a sweet way to tie it all together.”

Deaf Monks is Empty Nesters’ most collaborative release to date, featuring a diverse slate of Canadian indie, folk, and rap artists including Clay Pigeon, Sasha Cay, Victor Complex, and Fraud Perry.

Empty Nesters recent performed at festivals, including Pop Montreal, New Colossus, Flourish Festival, Side by Side Weekend, and Suoni Per Il Popolo.
