“Thingamajig” (live) Miya Folick

Singer/songwriter Miya Folick has released video for a new version of “Thingamajig”. The clip was directed by Matt Hoffman and featuring choreography by Sarah C. Prinz, features an alternative piano and vocals version of the song. Recorded live on set, the new version of “Thingamajig” is also available to stream.

Folick on “Thingamajig”

“We wanted to make a version of “Thingamajig” that distilled it down to its core—the melody, the lyrics, the interplay between the harmonics and the voice, the apology. I’ve been feeling lately that there’s been a flurry of apologies in the news but rarely is there a true apology. We wanted to make a version of this song that felt quiet and patient, that took the time to express the gravity of sorry. Dennis Hamm played piano on the album version of the song, but we had never rehearsed this live version. We just showed up on set and played together. I think that’s the beautiful thing about music. It’s just people in a room reacting to each other with their instruments.”

Folick has also announced dates for her first headlining tour of North America today. The tour will include stops in San Francisco, Seattle, Philadelphia, DC and New Orleans. Premontions was co-produced with Justin Raisen (Sky Ferreira, Charli XCX, Santigold and Angel Olsen) and Yves Rothman. Album tracks include “Cost Your Love,” “Stop Talking,” “Deadbody” and “Stock Image,” the latter of which was hailed by Pitchfork as a “wholehearted pop joy.”

Raised in Santa Ana, CA, Los Angeles-based recording artist and performer Miya Folick first rose to public attention with her 2015 debut EP, Strange Darling, Folick has toured the world over and shared stages with Chairlift, Yeasayer, Kate Nash, Sleigh Bells and many more.
