THE STEPKIDS Announce Kimbra Fall Tour; Mates of State Summer Dates Kick Off Next Week

THE STEPKIDS will continue to bring their fusion of punk and jazz, West African and 1960s folk, neo and classic soul, classic funk and 20th century classical to the masses during their just-announced month-long fall tour with breakout New Zealand singer Kimbra. The dates follows their west coast summer dates with friends and Connecticut neighbours Mates of State, which kick off June 28 in Seattle.

Stones Throw recently released a free MP3 of the group’s remix of Bruce Haack’s “National Anthem to the Moon” from the label’s recent Bruce Haack Remixes release. The Stepkids also recently recorded “Jean Claude Van Jam,” a video shot in their tour van covering Cream’s “I Feel Free.” See links to both below.

The Stepkids’ self-titled debut album was produced, engineered and recorded on a reel-to-reel by the band and released on Stones Throw Records in the fall of 2011. They have also consistently been noted as a “must-see act” at major festivals including SXSW and the CMJ Music Marathon thanks to their enigmatic live shows mixing music with psychedelic visuals.
