The Baptist Generals Share New Video

The Baptist Generals share video, announce tour with The Mountain Goats

The Baptist Generals’ new album, Jackleg Devotional to the Heart comes out May 21st. Their sharing a video for the song “Fly Candy Harvest,” which is not found on that album. Instead, this track appears on a limited-edition pre-order flexi-disc available from The video was  directed by The Baptist Generals’ Jason Reimer, and follows, “…two simultaneous celebrations of “paupers” and “bankers” with one of them ending badly. I leaned on my love of Buñuel, and the song has a certain celebratory darkness, creating a nice mood for subtle horror.”

The Baptist Generals have been tapped as direct support for the Mountain Goats’ recently announced US tour, which begins June 3rd in Washington, DC at 9:30 Club and ends on June 28th in Wilmington, NC at The Soapbox Laundrolounge. In a recent blog post about this tour, Mountain Goats prime mover John Darnielle had this to say about the group: We’re bringing out the Baptist Generals, one of our favorite bands, who have a new album coming out — their first in years — and for Peter and I this is a huge event, like on an “unheard post-Marquee Moon pre-Adventure Television album discovered” level: some bands you know will someday get the acclaim that’s due them and this is one of them. Their new album is so deeply moving I’m not even going to get into it right now.
