Sylvan Esso release new single “Keep On”

Sylvan Esso are back with new single “KEEP ON,” the track is the b-side to their recent single “WDID,” along with a music video made in collaboration with Stewart Owen Dance Company and directed by Josh Finck. The songs were the first release via their own label, Psychic Hotline. The physical 12-in is out January 9th, and now available for pre-order.
The new single came from two spells of deep creative exploration for Sylvan Esso, several years apart. The undulating and amorphous instrumental at the foundation of the track was born from a week of improvisation with bassist Daniel Aged (Frank Ocean, Dijon) and drummer TJ Maiani (Weyes Blood, Neneh Cherry) in 2023, before it sat dormant on a hard drive for the next few years. The distorted vocoder line – a simple loop of “KEEP ON fucking at the end of the world, yeah” flitting in and out – was recorded by Meath in January 2025, while the band was in Los Angeles working on new music. The city was apocalyptic, on fire – a tenseness and danger looming, something that lives on in the final “KEEP ON.”
Stumbling back onto the instrumental from 2023 and weaving it with that vocal felt like a natural landing point for both parts of the song; as they grew into each other they became something amorphous, occupying a new space for the band that’s both deeply intuitive and unfettered; a creative dispatch from now.
Sylvan Esso have released four albums, collaborating with a wide-ranging community of artists such as Arooj Aftab, Maggie Rogers, Tyler Childers, Reyna Tropical, Califone, Remi Wolf, Moses Sumney, The Postal Service, Rostam and many more, they have also played arenas like Madison Square Garden and Forest Hills Stadium.
