“Suspended Animation by Antonio Sánchez (Ft. Kimbra)”

Antonio Sánchez has shared the latest single from his new album, SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II), arriving via Arts Music, a Division of Warner Music, on Friday, August 26. “Suspended Animation,” featuring singer/songwriter and producer Kimbra, is available now at all DSPs and streaming services. An official music video premieres today as well.

“When Kimbra sent her original version of ‘Suspended Animation’ – which already sounded amazing – I immediately imagined big drum fills framing her beautiful voice in an effort to keep the listener guessing what happens next,” Sanchez shares. “I also contrasted the airiness of her voice with a slow build-up of different percussive elements In my desire to maintain a level of tension. Kimbra is an incredible composer, producer ,and all-around artist. It was truly an honor sharing this adventure with her.”

“”Suspended Animation” is a song I wrote around the start of the pandemic,” says Kimbra. “It’s about the danger of falling in love. It’s almost like a kind of annihilation. You have to let go of everything and fall into the unknown knowing fully well that you may not come out from it the same. I wanted the song to convey that dark mystery of infatuation. Antonio’s jarring drum intrusions are that perfect expression of danger and excitement. It was so fun to hear his take on this track and I’m super proud of the world we created.”

In 2014 Kimbra released the highly acclaimed album, The Golden Echo, recruiting artists including Thundercat, Omar-Rodriguez Lopez, and John Legend to highlight her eclectic musical style. 2018 saw the release of Primal Heart, which she co-produced before embarking on a worldwide tour that saw her performing with such artists as Beck, Odessa, David Byrne, and The Roots.

SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II) was first heralded this spring by new original song “I Think We’re Past That Now,” featuring 2x Academy Award-winners Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross and available now at all DSPs and streaming services.

In addition, SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II) also includes the recently released single, “Mi Palabra,” featuring Chilean-French singer-songwriter-MC Ana Tijoux, available now at all DSPs and streaming services.
