“Starlight” By Babygirl

Toronto musical duo Babygirl, have shared a new music video for “Starlight.” The track is off their current album Be Still My Heart, now available via streaming services. The group hit the road for a run of shows in support of the album, starting June 13th Cambridge, Mass in support of the Be Still My Heart. Babygirl includes college friends Kiki Frances and Cameron Bright

““Starlight,” is about losing love, and the emptiness that follows. Says Babygirl about the track, “”Imagine you were to go outside on a clear night and look up expecting to see your favourite constellations and instead all you saw was pitch black, nothingness, no beauty to behold. When you lose your love, life feels empty and drained of sparkle, lacking in wonder. This song is born of that starless sky metaphor, expressing that life is far less bright when you’re heartbroken.”

Be Still My Heart is a five-track collection that details the ebbs and flows, and the bitter and the sweet of love, as it navigates feelings of joy and hopelessness. “We really want our music to be hopeful and sweet and full of love, but we also want to acknowledge how hard it can be to feel those feelings,” Kiki says. “We certainly both have a lot of emotional ups and downs as everyone else does. This world is really hard to live in, and there’s a lot of pain and joy—equal measure at different times.”
