Worthitpurchase have released new single “Something New.” The track arrives after their recently announced self-titled album, due out Oct 3rd. The duo inclydes Omar Akrouche & Nicole Rowe, which began in 2019 in San Francisco as a vehicle for the two to finish each other’s songs. Akrouche and Rowe were staff engineers at Bay Area recording studio, Tiny Telephone, where an eclectic array of gear provided the perfect conditions for their first two records to form through nocturnal sessions fueled by moments of curiosity, improvisation and spontaneity. They still operate in a similarly collaborative, hodgepodge spirit—but this is the first time they’ve consciously curated a collection of songs over several years.

The Los Angeles based duo have announced two release shows, one at New York’s Night Club 101 on September 29th, and another at LA’s Non Plus Ultra on October 2nd.

On today’s single, Rowe explains that “It’s kind of a push-and-pull between two characters who take themselves way too seriously. They’re both convinced they’re the reasonable one in the relationship, but it’s not even clear if they like each other.” Akrouche adds “It always amazes me how quickly a song can emerge from nothing— just an abstract thought in someone’s head that suddenly becomes real. That spark of creation is what the title refers to.”
