“Soft And Tame” By The Ophelias

The Ophelias release a new single, “Soft and Tame,” from their forthcoming Ribbon EP, out April 12th. The songs on Ribbon explore spaces between right and wrong, good and bad, friend and enemy. Experiences that can’t be compartmentalized: the glowing in-betweens. Vocalist Spencer Peppet’s lyrics are especially vivid, filled with color and ominous settings: “Looking in your windows // Soft and tame // An overturned bus on the highway // I need you to stay the fuck away from me // Easier then to watch as you disappeared // Into the void // Into the glow // A tv on // A city with snow.” The band also includes Mic Adams, Andrea Gutmann Fuentes, and Jo Shaffer. The Ophelias started amongst Peppet, Adams, and Fuentes in high school in Ohio, with Shaffer joining in 2019.

On April 1st the band will play Elsewhere with Yo La Tengo, Slaughter Beach, Dog, and more to support United Musicians and Allied Workers. Following, they’ll play shows across North America with Daisy the Great and IAN SWEET.
