“Beliefs” Sneaks

Last week, Eva Moolchan of Sneaks posted a visual for a new song called “Beliefs” ahead of her remaining 2018 shows. While Sneaks’ signature minimal approach is still intact, Moolchan’s bass guitar and drum machine have vanished, replaced by sparse production and synths to contrast the optimistic mantra repeated throughout. It’s from Moolchan’s forthcoming album called Highway Hypnosis, due January 2019.

Sneaks songs are the mesmerizing post-punk incantations of Washington, DC’s Eva Moolchan. Bass and drum machine underpin Moolchan’s compelling vocals, and the music straddles several decades of serious minimalist fun. “The songs came together pretty fast, very tongue-in-cheek,” writes Moolchan of Gymnastics. “I was playing with how we use language and twisting the words of mundane slogans, ads, and repetitive symbols I was seeing while attending school.”
