Slothrust have returned with new single “Wildcard.” The track Follows the release of their 2023 LP I Promise. The duo, includes songwriter, guitarist, Leah Wellbaum and drummer Will Gorin. On “Wildcard,” Wellbaum’s intoxicating vocals slink over a hypnotic rhythm as she whispers, “Sometimes I feel like a wildcard.”

“Wildcard,” the band explains, “is an unhinged summer song for the collective about what it means to lean into the unpredictability so many of us are feeling these days. Consider this your invitation to keep it weird and wacky within reason.”

Slothrust are currently in the studio working on their forthcoming 6th LP. Approaching a decade since their debut, the duo has“developed [their] own unique sound to the point where we can ask ourselves ‘what would Slothrust do?’”says Gorin. Their most recent project, I Promise, an EP centered around a sly, thunderous take on the 90s R&B classic, Ginuwine’s “Pony”,was a revelatory venn diagram of ’90s nostalgia and forward-looking celebration of the now.
