La Doña, the musical persona of Cecilia Cassandra Peña-Govea, shares her latest single and music video “Show Me How You Livin'” feat. Tia Nomore from her upcoming EP Can’t Eat Clout out September 15th via Text Me Records. Incorporating elements of flamenco, cuban tarareo, salsa, and second-line brass composition all of which are layered over a hyphy beat, this new offering from the Bay Area artist provides a glimpse into what her upcoming project has to offer. Alongside this new single, La Doña also announces the launch of her Can’t Eat Clout North American tour, with stops in New York, Mexico City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more.

“Show Me How You Livin'” is introduced with palmas, a type of clapping found in traditional flamenco as La Doña slides down an octave, commencing the songs break into a classic salsa melody. Written during the peak of California’s destructive wild-fires and later co-produced with childhood friends Adeyemi and Ruben Sandoval, the track is a upbeat social commentary that mourns the burning world, leading people to turn to their community and loved ones for a glimmer of hope. The accompanying music video directed by Theo Schear shows La Doña and Tia Nomore repping their hometown (with La Doña sporting a 415 area code plated necklace) while dancing throughout popular public modes of transportation in the Bay, one of which is a reappropriated Muni bus bursting with color and greenery. With a hard-hitting feature from the Oakland rapper, artist and actor Tia Nomore (A24’s Earth Mama) the two join forces as they lean on their shared friendship.
