“Serve The Rich” by Pins

Manchester five-piece PINS recently released the video for their new single “Serve The Rich”, produced by The Kills’ Jamie Hince. The video was filmed at the anti-conservative March in Manchester where the band were marching and standing up for their believes with placards emblazoned with the songs lyrics of ‘Serve The Rich’ and ‘Save The Kids’. In the track, PINS are saying that as musicians, women, Labour supporters and feminists, they’re here to save the kids, save each other and save themselves.

“Serve The Rich” follows on from PINS recent Bad Thing EP release, which included the single “Aggrophobe” featuring Iggy Pop. Undeniably PINS, but with a fresh and unique sound, the Manchester five piece enlisted The Kills’ Jamie Hince to produce the track. PINS say;

“Jamie played us a reworked version of the demo and we were all blown away. I felt like he’d reached into my head and created the sound I’d been imagining.”

“The track is about how sometimes we feel like we only exist to make money for other people, it’s a swizz. We are promised things by saviours, these people who have come to rescue us, but it’s not true.”

Recent EP Bad Thing, which received radio support from the likes of Lauren Laverne and Steve Lamacq at 6Music, culminated in a short film, largely shot in the band’s hometown of Manchester, featuring 5 separate videos for each track on the EP which made up one 20-minute film.

PINS will be touring the UK and Ireland in November and the new live dates follow the band’s recent spring headline tour, which included a sold out show at London’s Moth Club, their support shows with Maximo Park and a host of summer festival performances including Reading & Leeds and Festival No.6. The band recently supported The Breeders and The Buzzcocks and will be supporting The Cribs in December.
