San Cisco releases “Snow” EP and remixes

San Cisco releases "Snow" EP and remixes, featuring A2A and Miura Keys.

Snow is possessing of a brooding intensity. Lonely arctic piano establishes the desolation of the lyrics while glittering guitar riffs run like a tingle down your spine. This, complemented by handclaps, a distinct dance drum beat, and the breakdowns with the two vocalists weaving around each other like estranged fraternal twins create a widely diverse, and interesting track.

‘Every day I’m lost in a new town,’ sings the lonely front man, evoking images of driving across cold expanses of nowhere.

Miura Keys is a musician / producer / DJ collective based in Berlin and fronted by Miles Miura. Their indie house remix combines powerful beats with emotive keyboard and synth melodies. Individual members of the project have already done remixes for artists such as: Lana Del Rey, Madonna, Metronomy, Jack Savoretti, and Booka Shade.

A2A is a deep-tech-house project based in Germany who’s passion for music is based on the early influences of soul, funk and Detroit house.

Coming out of the small coastal resort of Fremantle, a beautiful town nestling in the shadow of Perth’s gleaming monoliths and separated from the more fashionable parts of Oz by thousands of miles of red dirt, you might expect the music of San Cisco to be limited in vision, comprising flimsy surf-ditties extolling the ephemeral pleasures of sun, surf and sex. You would be wrong, however. For while it would be untrue to claim that the unholy trinity of sex, sun and sea are absent from their songs, on their new album, Gracetown, the band — singer Jordi Davieson, Josh Biondillo (guitar), Nick Gardner (bass) and Scarlett Stevens (drums) — extend their sonic palette to new territories. There is a deeper, chillier feel to songs such as ‘Snow’ and a looser, funkier feel to ones like ‘Jealousy’ that signals a new sophistication and maturity.

San Cisco’s debut self-titled album was released in 2012. The band have toured the world several times since, headlining shows and festival performances such as Lollapalooza, Pukkelpop and Reading. The fruit of this time on the road is reflected in the new sound, and sound which has paid its dues and has a sharpness born of hangovers, air-miles, homesickness and displacement.
