Los Angeles-based indie rocker Sam MacPherson released the music video for “Stretch”, a hopeful track about the surprising yearning and pining for a lover one never thought they’d be able to do. The song, MacPherson says, is about “looking inwards and realizing your capacity for love and human connection,” and is perfectly encapsulated by its cathartic chorus and hooky lyricism. “Never thought I would stretch in ways I swore I’d never bend”, he sings.

With the release comes the announcement of MacPherson’s sophomore EP, Powerlines, arriving April 14th on Elektra Records, also including previously released single “Safe to Say.” The theme of connection on “Stretch” influenced the EP’s concept. “We’re more alike than different because we’re connected by things like falling in love,” he muses about the title. To support the EP, he’ll be embarking on his first-ever headline tour, beginning in Washington, DC, on April 17th. The heart and simple but effective lyricism displayed on the track, along with surprising earnestness and vulnerability, make his major label debut Powerlines a record to look out for.
