Runner Debuts New Single “bike again”
After the recent announcement of his new album Like Dying Stars, We’re Reaching Out, Los Angeles artist Runner has shared “bike again.” the track follows lead single “i only sing about food”. Like Dying Stars, We’re Reaching Out is the culmination of years of songwriting and home-recording that manages to feel both intimate and cinematic all at once. Runnner’s songs often hinge on a unique mix of hifi/lofi dynamics and intricate arrangements that incorporate guitars, banjo, synths, piano, and most importantly, Weinman’s warm vocals and inviting melodies.
Noah Weinman AKA: Runner discussed the new song, saying:
“This is a song about falling off my bike, remembering all the other times I’ve fallen off my bike, and then wondering what I would say if I could talk to all of those past selves. I think it’s the oldest song on the record.”
Since 2017 Weinman has been releasing music as Runnner, and the songwriter has already amassed an impressive catalog of beautifully homespun indie folk. Like Dying Stars, We’re Reaching Out follows Runnner’s 2021 collection album, Always Repeating, and marks his most fully realized work to date. Throughout the album Weinman is often preoccupied with communication and the things that can go unspoken, even between people with a deep emotional bond. Weinman describes a hectic headspace and the challenges of opening up in a way that feels at once highly specific and deeply relatable.
