Geowulf have shared another new track “Round and Round”, which is taken from their forthcoming release My Resignation that is due out October 25th via PIAS. The band are currently touring in the UK, they return to the States for a run of shows in both August and November.
The song was written in a less positive environment than its warm synths would suggest. Star Kendrick explains: “I was frustrated with maybe a lack of self-control and an inability to break patterns in my life… In a few areas. This song is my way to poking holes in how I handled that. The rest of the album follows a similar, emotional narrative, and is all about exploring those old things & how I’ve tried to leave them behind.”
Looking ahead to their next album, the band have lots to say. Listeners of first album Great Big Blue will hear an overall holistic growth in their follow-up LP. Loneliness is discussed at great length throughout with brutal honesty; both learning to accept it but also in learning to love the space it provides. This is tackled alongside being a 20-something learning the measurements of expectations to put upon yourself & others. Pepper in life’s heartbreaks/break-ups and it proves beautiful mess.
If teenagers have all the coming-of-age movies to make logic of life’s do’s and don’ts, this record is the marker for that next batch of life’s “FFS’s” in your 20’s.
