Ronboy, project of multi-artist Julia Laws, is back with new single “Disaster,” the track features The National’s frontman Matt Berninger, and first made its debut on Matt Berninger’s North American US Tour, for which Ronboy both opened and played as a member of Berninger’s band. They performed the track at every show on the tour and will be making their way to Europe & the UK this month for a string of headline performances.

“Being hard on myself is usually a conversation I have within the privacy of my own mind,” shares Laws. “But now Matt is responding to my thoughts… publicly. It’s emotional in itself having him on this song.”

Berninger adds, “Ronboy has a way of blending tenderness and ferocity like no other artist I know. So happy she let me into this incredible song.”

Julia Laws aka: Ronboy spent her formative years on Fidalgo Island off the coast of Washington State. After moving to Los Angeles, she started working at local venues and began to produce and record her own music, releasing Ronboy’s first EP Velvet in 2020. Matt Berninger (The National) took notice and invited Laws to record and perform with him while promoting his debut solo album, Serpentine Prison. Berninger and Ronboy later collaborated with Resynator on a cover of Tom Petty’s “Only a Broken Heart” in 2021 – an all-synth, all-feeling rendition of the Petty classic.

In the summer of 2022, Ronboy released her debut album, Pity to Love. Amidst release, Ronboy joined Jade Bird for a handful of tours on bass and vocals, and she later pinch-hit on bass for IDLES at the band’s LAFD benefit show at the Silverlake Lounge in Los Angeles during GRAMMY weekend 2025.

Ronboy herself puts on an annual benefit show in Los Angeles, Ronboy’s Rockin’ Disco, benefiting Alexandria House, which provides housing and a continuum of support for women and children as they move from crises to financial and emotional stability, and ultimately to permanent housing. Past benefits have included performances from artists and comedians including Blu DeTiger, Sheng Wang, Miya Folick, and Rachel Bloom.
