Ric Wilson “Trunk Music”

Ric Wilson has dropped a new single/video entitled “Trunk Music.” The track follows the Chicago-based musician, activist, and organizer summer protest anthem, “Fight Like Ida B & Marsha P.” and “They Call Me Disco,” his collaborative EP with GRAMMY-nominated producer Terrace Martin released this past spring. With production from LPXIV, “Trunk Music” is brassy and low-key, featuring Sam Veren (trumpet), Niko the Great (keys), and Reggie Got Beats (key bass). The accompanying video was co-directed by A Solo Vision and Mauricio Reyes.

From Ric Wilson:

“I wrote this song two years ago and shot this video one year ago,” says Ric. “When I heard this beat my cousin made, it reminded me of seeing Grand Prix on southside blocks as a shorty and hearing the loud music coming from sound systems. Just like those boomin trunks, we are rebellious, we are loud, and we don’t need to be understood.”
