Finnish export Redder premiere their single, 'Let Us Get Out'

Hailing from the icy northern hemisphere, electronic duo Redder evoke an ethereal ambience with their stirring new single, ‘Let Us Get Out’, due for release on 10th November via Finnish label Cocoa Music.

Melding fragile, distorted vocals with soulful clarinet melodies, ‘Let Us Get Out’ is a captivating interplay of poignant lyrics driven by deliberate beats and deep piano chords. Taken from their upcoming debut album, ‘Walk Long Play’, due for release in November, this is a track that is as affecting as it is fleeting.

Describing their sound as a dark combination of folk and trip-hop, Redder was founded in Helsinki, Finland, in 2012 by Frans Saraste and Vesa Hoikka after meeting at a solo gig of Saraste’s. What began as a collaboration of his intimate folk songwriting and Hoikka’s production skills quickly led to a powerful partnership between the two.

Besides a strong emphasis on compelling songwriting, their live performances are also a notable component of their act, with a love of live instrumentation seeing them hone an impressive set-up that incorporates trumpets, clarinets, piano and guitar. This dynamic approach, combined with visuals by VJ Kristian Äijö, Redder’s additional member, makes for an intense and mesmerising audiovisual experience that is not to be missed.

Redder clearly derive inspiration for their melancholy from the frozen tundra of their home country, and ‘Let Us Get Out’ is no exception. With their debut album also forthcoming for November, this Finnish pair are well on their way to proving themselves as one of the most credible Nordic exports of recent years.
