Allah-Las have announced their new album Sirenas, will drop on August 28 via Mexican Summer, in partnership with the band’s own boutique independent record label Calico Discos. Ahead of the album’s arrival, the band have shared “Pt. Conception,” accompanied by an official visualizer by the band’s own Matt Correia. The track follows the single “Ultramarine,” released earlier this year. Allah-Las are currently touring with headline dates across Europe, the U.K., and the U.S., including a co-headline with Real Estate as part of the U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Allah-Las formed in 2008 with members Matt Correia, Spencer Dunham, Miles Michaud, and Pedrum Siadatian. Forged during their days at Amoeba Music, their friendship has blossomed into a revered body of work driven by musical exploration. That same energy carried over into the years of live DJ sets and online mixes they curated for their Reverberation Radio, and the music they’ve unearthed and shared via their Calico Discos imprint. It’s this fascination with listening, learning, and collective imagining that also steers Sirenas, as the band crystallizes invisible atmospheres and emotional and psychic residues of sound.

Rather than approaching the recording process with a defined concept or destination, the band focused on creating space to jam, to ramble, to follow any and every impulse, no matter how strange it seemed or where it led. The sessions embraced detours and drift, incorporating new instruments, altered recording approaches, and looser songwriting structures. Ideas were captured instinctively, without overthinking whether they aligned with their previous work or their normal sonic milieu.

“That absence of intent led us down pathways we may have consciously avoided,” Michaud says. And in this freedom, they uncovered a newly elastic and expansive language, one rooted equally in Balearic grooves, metaphysical texture, and a cinematic atmosphere. The result is an enveloping and transportive record that moves almost like a half-remembered film, at once hazy and sensual.
