Australian psych-rockers Porn Crumpets drop their new album And Now For The Whatchamacallit on May 3rd via Marathon Artists. The full-length was recorded between Jack McEwan’s bedroom and Tone City Studios in Perth, mixed by Michael Jelinek (Gunns) and mastered by John Davis (Gorillaz, The Killers). Ahead of the LP’s arrival the band have shared a new video for “Bills Mandolin.” The band will be touring the world in support of the release, heading to the UK next month for a headline tour, which includes playing The Great Escape and All Points East festival with The Strokes.

The band on the new album:

“The original concept was to take a 1930’s carnival that had been re-imagined for future generations, a collage of Punch and Judy, carousels and coconut shy’s that progresses in musical concepts and travels with the listener. Then as we started traveling I was swept off into my own kind of circus, the odyssey of touring life. Large nights out, larger characters, drunken recollections of foreign cities and rabbit hole-ing into insanity (kindly illustrated by Quentin Blake)”.

“Bill’s Mandolin” is inspired by an old heirloom Jack McEwan of the band was given on their last tour of the UK. So that he could take the mandolin back to Australia, the band carried it around Western Europe and Australia on tour with them as they got up to all sorts of mischief; “Bill’s Mandolin” is an ode to Jack’s grandad Bill and their chaotic adventures accompanied by the instrument.
