The world in their eyes:

Kendrick Lamar and Depeche Mode took Primavera Sound 2023 Barcelona to its halfway point in day 2. The electronic beats of Fred Again and Bad Religion’s punk veteran offered other highlights of the day.

Bad Religion blew out the candles of their four decades of life giving away pogo and guitars. We witnessed the lineage that connects the expansive rap of Baby Keem with the expressive maturity of the flow of his cousin Kendrick Lamar, who dropped (literally) the curtains that represent the multiplicity of layers of a discourse that cuts across all of African-American culture.

And it was, of course, the night of Depeche Mode. The one in which Dave Gahan and Martin Gore appeared for the first time without Andy Fletcher (remembered in the projections that illustrated the interpretation of World in my Eyes) to play the themes of the recent Memento Mori, but also to transport us to the glory of electronic pop with Everything Counts, a highly-sung Enjoy the Silence, Never Let Me Down Again and the withering Personal Jesus.

Take a look at the best moments of Primavera Sound 2023 festival with our photo recap of Day 2, featuring Kendrick Lamar, Bad Religion, Alvvays, Yves Tumor, Japanese Breakfast, Soul Glo, Fred Again, Swans, and many more.
