“Postcard from a Quarantined Miner in Flin Flon” Bluebloods feat: Courtney Devon

Bluebloods’ latest music video is entitled “Postcard from a Quarantined Miner in Flin Flon.” The video revolves around isolated Flin Flon miner, Louise, as she pens a love letter to her Winnipeg-based partner, Abe. Using animation, live action and song, Postcard explores parallels between Manitoba’s crises of today and yesteryear and how remote lovers have stayed in touch during such episodes.

The video was shot by Jen Doerksen, and features Madi Dueck who performs the dance sequence, and architect Damon Hayes Couture designed the set’s apartment backdrop. Louise is played by established Winnipeg singer/performer Courtney Devon, who also sings the tune’s melody.

In the 1960s, feminists adopted the slogan, “Behind every successful man is a great woman.” Countless notable examples illustrate this point. An especially vivid one is the case of Abelard, the famous medieval writer, and his convent-bound lover Heloise whose inspirational letters to Abelard are works of literary genius and inspire this music video. A more obscure example is the case of Conrad Sweatman (Bluebloods) and his great mother Sally Sweatman, without whom he never would have made Postcard from a Quarantined Miner in Flin Flon.
