Vancouver duo Porteau are sharing their new single “Penelope.” Fans of Joni Mitchell, The Cranberries, and Mazzy Star will gravitate towards the track’s instrumentation and soothing vocals. Porteau will release their debut full-length Water’s Gate on March 15th. Porteau will be touring British Columbia and Alberta, this month, including a show on March 15th at the Fox Cabaret in Vancouver, BC.

Porteau is the Collaboration of Victoria Williams and Craig Stevenson. the couple came about by happenstance. Victoria saw a painting of Andromeda by Gustave Doré and was instantly captivated. She asked Craig if he could help her write music that sounded like the painting looked – cold, urgent, yet liberating. A mutual understanding and inspiration was found from this piece of art.

Porteau on “Penelope”;

“At a time where I felt powerless in certain relationships, “Penelope” was my way of saying that I could unwind myself from the pain and learn to be at peace with the fact that those I am leaving behind may not be okay.”
