Musician/rapper/producer Pell has announced Floating While Dreaming II (FWD II),’ his nw album out September 3rd. FWD II is the follow up to the rapper’s self-released debut, 2014’s ‘Floating While Dreaming’ (Ludwig Göransson, Tomas Barfod), and continues his collaborations with PJ Morton, Big Gigantic, and more. The energy of his hometown New Orleans influences the shape of this upcoming project leaning into more upbeat production. Ahead of the release, Pell has shared “Flight” featuring Dave B.

“Sometimes I get in a loop of being in the studio so much that I forget about all the places my music has taken me. I’m having the most fun I can with my music right now so this is an invitation to anyone following my journey to come take this trip with me,” Pell says.

As for the technical way the record came about, it was a session put together by my A&R Lauren with me, Dwilly, and Tatu Musik right before the pandemic. Dave B. added his verse later. Its serendipitous that it’s coming out now because traveling sounds risky right now.”

“This is the most Jared Pellerin Album I’ve ever made. It’s truly authentic to who I am and the relationships// stories of people I care about. The first Floating While Dreaming project was a dedication to leaving school to pursue my dreams of making it in the music industry,” Pell reflects.

“Over the years I’ve been blessed to garner the attention, money, respect from what I used to only make in a dorm room. FWD II asks the question ‘does success = satisfaction?’ And goes more in depth with some struggles I’ve had living and loving in LA. It’s my chance to be vulnerable and stop trying to hide the fact that I’m human. In a swimming metaphor, I’m still floating but I’m just bringing more of myself to the surface.”

Earlier this year, Pell and Nola-Centric Collective GLBL WRMNG released ‘glbl wrmng Vol. 1,’ which served an ode to the strength and resilience of New Orleans. GLBL WRMG is a new NOLA-centric collective launched by Pell and music professional Nate “Suave” Cameron of 20+ local artists and producers including Malik NinetyFive, Jzzle, Jelly of Tank and the Bangas, Lil Iceberg, Kr3wcial, and more. The new record is an ode to the strength of their beloved hometown and emphasizes the city’s heroic survival.
