“Parc de Beauvoir” By Bibi Club

Bibi Club includes Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque (Plants and Animals)–today shared their new single/video “Parc de Beauvoir,” the track is off the Montreal duo’s upcoming album Feu de garde, available May 10th via Secret City Records “This song was written in a London park during our tour. We were in a contemplative, exhausted state as our kid was playing,” Bibi Club explain. “”Parc de Beauvoir” is an ode to friendship, conveying nostalgia for our teenage years, an era during which we observe what’s happening around us and experience complex, powerful emotions. It’s a raw song about openness and friendship.”

“Parc de Beauvoir” follows lead single “L’île aux bleuets,” which is brought to life by just guitar, vocals and a drum machine: “inspired by the minimalism of our main influence, Suicide,” they say. Mixed by Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding, Dry Cleaning), mastered by Matt Colton (Depeche Mode, James Blake, Peter Gabriel), and featuring vocal contributions from Helena Deland, Camille Delean, and Carmel Scurti-Belley, Feu de garde is a liberated, seductive, and undeniable collection of French pop/rock jewels.

Across Feu de garde, Trottier-Rivard reconnects with the values that made her the woman she is today: courage, perseverance, sisterhood and friendship. A former member of the first exclusively female scout group in Montreal (Les Guides), she spent years within that community discovering nature and developing meaningful relationships that ultimately influenced her identity as an artist. Feu de garde is in part inspired by these girlhood memories and formative moments, and even features group chants that recall Girl Guide outings in the woods.

Feu de garde is an album about the importance of community, kindness, being a parent, mortality and strength. It’s a soundtrack to a nonviolent tension, a fire that illuminates. The flames intersect and reassure one another,” the duo explains.
