Operators announce fall tour dates

Operators announces European fall 2016 tour dates, 'Blue Wave' LP available now on Last Gang Records

Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits) has been busy with his band Operators. Since the release of their debut album, Blue Wave, via Last Gang Records on April 1st, the band has been touring in between his dates with Wolf Parade. This fall, Boeckner is bringing Operators to Europe for an extensive tour run, which will see a return to many eastern European cities he hasn’t been to since Handsome Furs.

Boeckner has had a busy year with the recent reformation of his band Wolf Parade, which had an impressive five-night sold-out stint in New York, TV appearances on Colbert, Conan, and Carson Daily, as well hitting the mainstages for several European festivals.

In addition to his own bands, Boeckner recently collaborated with Preoccupations, formerly known as Viet Cong, on the centrepiece track from their self-titled album, Memory.

Boeckner also contributed to Taking It To The Heart, a compilation and charitable project by the Heart and Stroke Foundation to be released on September 30th, 2016. The 13-song album is a selection of B-sides, remixes and live cuts by some of Canada’s best artists. Operators opens the album with “Shape of Things To Come,” featuring Perfect Pussy’s Meredith Graves. The album is available for pre-order now, and all proceeds of sales will go towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Operators features Boeckner on vocals, guitar, and synths. He’s joined by Divine Fits drummer Sam Brown and Devojka on analog hardware. Produced by Graham Walsh (METZ, Alvvays, Preoccupations/Viet Cong), much of Blue Wave was recorded in an 1850s-vintage barn in southern Ontario, Canada. Order Blue Wave here.

Blue Wave follows the release of EP1, an aggressively melodic collection of synth driven pop songs featuring the single “True” and gave us a taste of what was to come with the band. After a length of time on the road with the likes of Future Islands, New Pornographers and more, the band’s sound evolved from an analog post-punk project to a more live, organic sound with Boeckner finding himself often strapped back into his guitar.

After sharing the album’s first single, “Cold Light,” which has over 1.2 million streams on Spotify, the band released rock jam title track, “Blue Wave.”

The latest offering from Blue Wave is the single, “Control,” out October 7th.
