Open Mike Eagle shares a new video. Directed by OME himself, “Single Ghosts” follows the rapper through an 80’s infused universe chock-full of classic pop culture references as he works through the trials and tribulations of dating a ghost. The visual follows his song “The Edge of New Clothes” from The Needle Drop compilation album and is the third from his latest EP, What Happens When I Try To Relax, following “Microfiche” and “Every Single Thing.”

Explaining the inspiration behind the video, Mike says: “I directed this and went through a lot of hell to finally get it out. It’s an homage to a style of 80’s video that I really love. Maybe you’ll be able to tell what some of them are. Apologies in advance that those last few frames are quite haunted.”

The video for “Single Ghosts” arrives in the midst of a busy year for Open Mike Eagle. He wrapped up the first season of his and Baron Vaughn’s Comedy Central show The New Negroes (which featured Lizzo, Danny Brown, MF Doom, Method Man, and more), completed a successful North American tour alongside Sammus and Video Dave, and most recently appeared on Tru Tv’s hit comedy series Adam Ruin’s Everything. Additionally, OME is set to play four headlining shows in St.Paul Madison, Chicago, and Philadelphia next month with support from Elucid and Video Dave, plus a slew of shows on the west coast with Baron Vaughn. Tickets are available now.
