Open Mike Eagle has returned with “Burner Account,” his new single featuring Armand Hammer. The song was produced by Quelle Chris, and marks the first musical offering from OME in 2021, following the second season of his podcastWhat Had Happened as well as last year’s full-length album Anime, Trauma and Divorce, with producer El-P.
In addition to the new Armand Hammer collaborative track, OME is joining the NY-based group on their Haram Tour alongside special guest and Haram producer the Alchemist. Speaking on the new track and what’s in the works, OME said: “Some dirty soul music I made with the brilliant brothers I’m about to go on this tour with produced by the mad genius Quelle Chris. This is from a new project I’m working on. I’m also writing on a TV show I can’t reveal the name of yet and taping new seasons of both of my podcasts so there’s a lot of cooking happening. This is the first taste.”
Open Mike Eagle is an LA based hip-hop artist, TV producer, podcaster and comedian. Earlier this year, OME released the second season of the What Had Happened Was podcast. Last year alone, he released his album Anime, Trauma and Divorce, launched his own podcast network, Stony Island Audio, and his own fully independent label, AutoReverse Records. Mike also embarked on an innovative, socially-distanced drive-in tour with comedian Hannibal Burress entitled the “Let’s See How This Goes Tour,” began a daily show on Instagram Live titled “Quarantine Drivetime Radio Show,” and appeared on SYFY’s The Great Debate, an unscripted, half-hour series hosted by Baron Vaughn, Mike’s co-host on their critically-acclaimed Comedy Central show The New Negroes (which featured Lizzo, Danny Brown, MF Doom, Method Man, and more as musical guests). Open Mike Eagle also started the sensational Funny or Die Show, Call & Response, with Baron Vaughn that the New York Times called “engaging and topical.”
