Ok Cowgirl have shared their excellent debut EP, Not My First Rodeo. Along with the news of the release, the Brooklyn band are playing an EP release show on December 15th at Knitting Factory in New York City with Spud cannon and ethereal musician May Rio.

Not My First Rodeo is a collection of self-reflective and raw stories. Songwriter and frontwoman Leah Lavigne lets you in on her personal frustrations and ponderings, and it is as intense as it is intimate. Noise/feedback, gripping guitar tones, and pounding drums trade off with sparser sections where basslines weave around vocal melodies swimming in atmospheric synths.

“The title is a nod to the long musical and personal journeys that have led all four of us to this point. The lyrics specifically reflect Leah’s personal journey. If you listen to her words you’ll realize this is an album about growth and weathering; it’s a coming of age story. It documents the trials and tribulations that lead one to a statement like “not my first rodeo.”
