novellus Shares “Reign”, EP out 1/26

novellus Shares "Reign", now available for streaming on Northern Transmissions, EP out 1/26 via New Ancestors

Deep in the outer swampland of the electronic music scene dwells novellus who just announced his debut EP will be released January 26. A modern day hermit, surfacing sporadically when he feels inspired to do so, the mysterious producer will put out his debut EP via New Ancestors, the new label created by Jason Friedman (The Hundred In The Hands; Warp Records). From smoke filled gambling dens and an itchy trigger finger pressed to a gun, to the claustrophobia of miscommunication and a room faraway from home, this is mutant-pop futurism, room shuddering beats and snap back melodies.

Moody opening track “Tough” melds R&B beats with danceable disco-infused percussion. Hypnotic bass on “Talk Back” is broken up by distorted vocals and erratic beats, putting listeners in a trance. novellus’ crooning vocals sit atop dreamy, pulsating, synth loops on debut single “Reign”, “a song for pain”.

novellus writes his story in music, skewing and sampling his own sounds until it cuts sharp as a razor producing six fractured and slanted tracks about love, power and paranoia.

“Untitled” EP Track Listing
